![]() Brett Dennen Australian Tour Inertia and Civil Society are proud to announce the return of Brett Dennen. Having already won fans with his 2008 tour with Pete Murray and a string of sold out solo shows, the shaggy haired, guitar plucking Brett Dennen will be coming back this January once more to offer his talent in support to John Butler Trio on their national tour starting January 2010 as well as one very special night at the Basement in Sydney. Raised in Oakdale, California, the home schooled Dennen was inspired to start playing guitar around the camp fire at summer camp. Dennen experimented throughout high school and college with different styles informed by his love of acoustic based music, jam bands and harder rock like Pearl Jam and Rage Against The Machine. After a short period of playing in bands, Dennen realized that his passion lay in writing his own music. Finishing High School he began performing solo in coffee shops and bars just hoping to be heard, all the while writing and recording in his home studio. The result was his first 2004 self-titled album which featured “She’s Mine”. Picked up immediately by key radio stations in the US the song quickly built up momentum and was added to radio across the country. It wasn’t long before Dennen’s soulful sounding songs were being featured on top rating television programs like Grey’s Anatomy, House and Scrubs. With the release of his album “So Much More” The stripped back honest songs struck a chord with audiences and critics alike. The exquisite intimacy of Brett’s vocals and the finger-picked, jazz-influenced chord structures of his songs have seen comparisons drawn to Dave Matthews, John Mayer and Tracy Chapman. Through his heartfelt sound the barefoot redhead troubadour has developed a devoted fan base and a reputation as a truly honest performer. His reputation has seen him share stages with the likes of John Mayer, Feist, Elvis Costello, Ben Folds, Colbie Caillat, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Missy Higgings, Pete Murray, Angus and Julia Stone and now a national tour of Australia with John Butler . Having already stunned audiences with his truthful performances on his last Australian tour Civil Society is excited to welcome back Brett Dennen when he performs inside the hallowed walls of the Basement on a night that will move you. “Brett Dennen has a laid-back, comfortable roots style that makes listening a pure pleasure.” - JMag "Dennen's soul is laid out in his music... vulnerable, innocent, confused, and truthful to the core." - Rave Magazine “reminiscent of both early Bob Dylan and John Mayer” - Rolling Stone Brett Dennen Australian Tour Sydney 11/01/10 The Basement John Butler Trio Supports Brisbane 12/01/10 Tivoli Sydney 13/01/10 Enmore Newcastle 14/01/10 Newcastle Panthers Margaret River 16/01/10 Leeuwin Estate More Info www.brettdennen.net or www.myspace.com/brettdennen |
