Fête de la Musique Brisbane 2010

Fête de la Musique is the largest international live music event in the world, held in 350 cities across the globe on the very same day each year – June 21 – in accordance with an International Charter developed by the French Government in 1982.

The International Charter provides a clear set of ‘rules’ for performers, venues and presenters, and is the common link for more than 110 countries who participate in this music event. At the very heart of this festival is the making and celebration of music. Pure and simple.
Artists register for an unpaid, 25-50 minute slot and the registered venues make sure that they are looked after. Fête de la Musique Brisbane is about providing a performance platform for all people who love making music: whether a professional musician who has been playing for years or an aspiring performer who is looking for a chance to try out their skills.

Excitingly, this year’s event falls on a weekday for the first time since it began in Brisbane, presenting new opportunities to engage with schools, workplaces, and more suburban and non-traditional venues.

The Fête de la Musique Brisbane team looks set to host over 1300 performances across 70 venues in 2010; from the established venues like Queen Street Mall, King George Square, Queensland Performing Arts Centre to local venues like The Tempo Hotel to the surprising – CityCats, city laneways, espresso bars and even the Wonder Factory at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Brisbane City Council, in partnership with Brisbane Marketing and Alliance Française, and supported by Starving Kids, is the proud presenter of Fête de la Musique Brisbane 2010.
