Gen Con Oz 2010
Gen Con™ Australia is a consumer games, entertainment and pop culture convention that showcases games for a broad audience of entertainment seekers. The event will be held from the 23rd to 26th of September 2010 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Australia.

Held annually in Brisbane, Gen Con™ Australia provides families and games enthusiasts with an opportunity to see and play games across three major categories namely Electronic Games, Family Games and Enthusiast Games. Gen Con™ Australia also provides a wide array of events in the areas of Anime, Celebrity Appearances, CosPlay, and Pop Culture. Gen Con™ Australia also prides itself in providing a platform for new artists, games designers and writers to demonstrate their talents through displays, seminars and workshops.
The event, which was held for the first time in Australia in July 2008, attracted more than 10,000 visitors and has continued to impress crowds in its second year in 2009. The event is based on, and licensed from, the enormously popular Gen Con™ Indy Convention held annually in the USA. Gen Con™ has a strong 40 year history and has become one of the core annual events for games enthusiast and entertainment markets around the world.
“It is our goal to offer the fundamentals of Gen Con™ Indy whilst harnessing the more mainstream entertainment elements of gaming now emerging to create an event unrivalled in Australia,” says Ian Houlihan, the Director of Sales and Marketing for Gen Con™ Australia.
The event allows exhibitors from different markets to present their games and entertainment offerings as well as running games tournaments alongside each other, potentially extending the market reach of each and every exhibitor at the event.
But Gen Con™ Australia is more than just about games. Gen Con™ Australia has a strong fucus on Anime, CosPlay Costuming, and Pop Culture elements such as artist, author and media celebrity guests.
