Green Jam Spreads to entire weekends at QPAC
Green Jam Spreads to entire weekends at QPAC

Following the hugely successful debut of The Green Jam Sessions in 2009, QPAC has extended its free live music program on the Melbourne Street Green to include Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons from Friday 15 October to Sunday 19 December.

Green Jam Weekends will spread the perfect musical chill over ten sensational spring/summer weekends. The Melbourne Street Green will be transformed into a casual retro outdoor lounge where the barbecue will be fired up for a green jam grill and plenty of drinks chillin’ on ice.

Choose from smooth jazz and groovy lounge; funky roots and world beats; or country, folk and blues, then sit back with your friends and enjoy a relaxing evening or afternoon of free live music.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said he welcomes people to QPAC to enjoy free live music all weekend, not just on Fridays.

“On Fridays, we will continue our popular Green Jam sessions with smooth jazz music and vocals by talented musicians from Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium, offering a great after work wind-down or pre-show get together.

On Saturdays, QPAC will present all new Sunset Sessions featuring a diverse array of talented Country, folk, and blues artists such as this year’s Deadly Award Winner for Most Promising Talent Busby Marou and Adam James who was nominated for three Deadly awards (Single of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year). Other featured artists include Asa Broomhall, Cotterell and Clark, Cory Hargreaves, Little Creatures and Doc Span and Ross Williams.

And on Sunday afternoons we introduce Global Grooves, showcasing an exotic musical blend of world beats including internationally acclaimed Paula Fuga (who has collaborated with artists such as Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley), The Tribe of Jubal, who are touring from Papua New Guinea, Dva featuring the talented multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Pollak and master percussionist Tunji Beier, talented and popular didgeridoo virtuoso and unique solo performer, Matt James and Roots Reggae outfit Fyah Walk from Byron Bay.

“Green Jam Weekends, with Free live music at QPAC over the entire weekend gives more people greater opportunities to relax with friends and family and enjoy different styles of music, in a casual outdoor setting,” said Kotzas.

This FREE program of live music continues to be proudly supported by Major Partner Heritage Building Society, putting People First.  As part of its commitment to the wider community, Heritage Building Society is proud to be involved with bringing Green Jam Weekend to the South Bank community.
