La Boite Holiday Workshops

La Boite offers a great range of holiday workshops for young people aged 6 - 18 years. Participants will broaden their horizons and expand their skills over five days of activities in all areas of theatre - from comedy to improvisation, storytelling to physical theatre. These workshops provide a supportive and fun environment in which new skills are developed, ideas are born and friendships discovered. You can enrol in one of four different groups: 6-8 year olds, 9-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds and 16-18 year olds. Each workshop is specifically designed to engage, inspire and challenge each age group and is led by professional theatre makers. Book today by calling 3007 8600.

ZOO MANIA
With Louise Brehmer
For 6 - 8 year olds
You live at the Zoo and it's a wild place! After visiting hours, animals from all around the world tell us their amazing tales. Perfect for 6 - 8 year olds wanting to make new friends, laugh and share their imagination. This workshop will introduce these young people to the basics of drama, encouraging self-expression and teamwork. Drama games and improvisations will get you moving like a monkey, a parrot, a polar bear… or perhaps we haven't discovered an animal quite like you before? The workshop will conclude with a showing for family and friends.
Mon 28th June - Fri 2nd July
10am - 4pm daily
$325.00 per student

BIG SPENDER
With Peta Ward
For 9 - 12 year olds

You've just been given a zillion dollars - what would you do first to make the world a better place? Using drama games, storytelling, improvisation and physical theatre skills you'll build characters and scenes that explore the fun of a spending-spree, but also underline why there are some important things in this world that money can't buy. This week is perfect for those who love to dream big. No previous drama experience required. At the end of the week, you'll be strutting your stuff to friends and family in a short performance. Priceless!
Mon 28 June - Fri 2nd July
10am - 4pm daily
$325.00 per student

THAT'SWHATHESAIDSHESAID!
With Emma-Che Martin
For 13-15 year olds

He said, that she said, that you said, that you loved thinking up and telling tall stories! Fun theatre exercises and improvisations will help your group devise a performance inspired by the juicy world of rumour, gossip, and the innocent white lie. What happens when a simple story grows out of control - is it funny or frightening? Focusing on the art of storytelling, approaches to character and ensemble work, this workshop is great for drama students keen to enhance their skills as well as beginners who have big ideas, vivid imaginations and want to build their confidence. The workshop will conclude with a short performance for family and friends.
Mon 5 July - Fri 9 July
10am - 4pm daily
$325 per student

ACTOR SHARPENER
With Lucas Stibbard
For 16-18 year olds

Sharpen your acting instrument. This workshop refines the performance skills you already have, while giving you new tools to tackle challenging performance texts. Carve out a character using physical triggers. Distil the performance potential of the text and how best to convey this with your entire body and voice, heart and intellect. Using creativity, guts, intuition and analytical skills you'll learn how to use the script to help you create a sharp, smart and riveting performance. There will be a short performance outcome at the end of the week.
