![]() Lisa Uhl Turtujarti Exhibition Disability proves no barrier to creating great art. Indigenous artist Lisa Uhl, will showcase her work at the Suzanne O’Connell Gallery from Thursday 11 February 2011. Lisa is a young woman with a disability living in Fitzroy Crossing in the West Kimberley area of Western Australia. Her language group is Wangkatjunka and she has lived all of her life in Fitzroy Crossing. Lisa is the daughter of renowned artists Spider and Dolly Snell. Lisa portrays her love for her homeland and community through her abstract paintings. Lisa’s layering of colours creates an atmospheric rhythm within her works displaying her unique cultural connection to the Kimberley. Lisa has named her exhibition "Turtujarti" because that's the bush food (fruit) which comes from the trees she paints. Her work is represented by Mangkaja Art Centre and is now been shown locally and nationally in group exhibitions. This will be her first solo exhibition – another first for Brisbane. Exhibition runs from 10 February until 19 March 2011 Lisa Uhl Turtujarti Exhibition Venue: Suzanne O’Connell Gallery Dates: 10/02/11 – 19/03/11 Official Site: www.suzanneoconnell.com |
