![]() Q150 Film Festival It has travelled Queensland‐wide, from Weipa to Bowen, from coast to coast, but next month, the Q150 Film Festival will make its final stop in Brisbane, when it plays host to Queensland’s 150th Celebrations (Q150) Film Festival. On Friday 4 and Saturday 5 December, locals will be able to head to New Farm Park, Corner Brunswick Street and Sydney Streets, from 6.30pm to enjoy four hours of free film screenings. Q150 Film Festival Organiser, Anne Demy‐Geroe, said eight films – both feature and short length – would be screened over the two nights, each with a special Queensland connection. “Film production in Queensland is, and always has been, unique. So programming this festival meant considering hundreds of films for potential inclusion,” Ms Demy‐Geroe said. “It’s a very inspiring film program. There’s something to appeal to every member of the community – from the family classic, animated penguin adventure, Happy Feet, to a rare glimpse at some of Queensland’s earliest films, complete with insightful narration. “This event celebrates the hard work and talent of our State’s Creative Industries and showcases the picturesque, physical landscapes of Queensland.” Ms Demy‐Geroe said locals would also get the chance to learn some of the secrets of moviemaking through a free community workshop. The 1 ½ hour workshop, which will cover post‐production including the use of special effects, will be held from 10.30am to 12noon on Saturday 5 December at the Brisbane Square Library Tiered Theatrette, George Street. Bookings are recommended and can be made by emailing q150workshop@p4.com.au. “If you’ve ever had an interest in how movies are made, then this is the place for you. After all, some of this country’s best filmmakers, including Happy Feet's’s George Miller, are from Queensland!” Q150 Film Festival Program FRIDAY4 DECEMBER SATURDAY 5 DECEMBER Session 1 – 6.30pm National Film & Sound Archival Footage HAPPY FEET (G) National Film & Sound Archival Footage NIM’S ISLAND (PG) Session 2 – 8.45pm AUNTY MAGGIE AND WOMBA WAKGUN 48 SHADES (M) BLOODY FOOTY ALL MEN ARE LIARS (PG) The Q150 Film Festival is presented by Warner Bros.
