Ring in the New Year with The Queensland Pops To some it has become a yearly tradition, for others it will mark a new one; whichever category you fall into, the Queensland Pops Orchestra’s New Year’s Eve concert conducted by Barrie Gott is a great way to ring in the New Year.
This year’s concert, the 25th annual New Year’s Eve performance with the Queensland Pops since QPAC’s
opening in 1985, is entitled European Holiday and will take audience
members on a wonderful musical journey on Friday 31 December in QPAC’s
Concert Hall. Take a trip down the Rhine River and through the fairytale castle of Bavaria, then along the stunning mountain scenery of Salzburg.Visit some of Europe's finest destinations through the music of
renowned composers such as Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss and
Andersson as Australia's
most entertaining orchestra rings in the New Year with splendour and
style. This night of night’s concert will feature three stunning
Australian operatic talents. Be uplifted by the passionate voice of the
elegant soprano Milica Ilic and the dramatic vocals of the classically trained Mezzo-Soprano Amanda Hutton.
Joining Milica and Amanda is the thrilling and always entertaining Tenor
Michael-John Hurney, whose diverse vocal talents has given him the
opportunity to perform for the King of Tonga, four former Australian Prime Ministers and who has also been appointed as personal Chef for celebrity super couple, David and Victoria Beckham (which was a very well set up hoax…of course!).
The Queensland Pops Orchestra and QPAC invite you to celebrate a
quarter of a century of fabulous New Year’s Eve entertainment and
welcome in 2011 with this spectacular concert in Queensland's home of
orchestral music. The Queensland Pops Orchestra performed the first New Years Eve concert in QPAC’s Concert Hall in 1985, the concerts continuing at QPAC as an annual tradition to this day. Queensland Pops Orchestra Presents: New Year’s Eve Concert: European Holiday Venue: QPAC, Brisbane
