![]() Splendour in the Grass 2010 – Extra Info! Here is some last minute information for campers, straight from Splendour in the Grass HQ! We’ve got some pertinent tips for those of you camping on site with us at Woodfordia, although all attendees may want to read the opening paragraph about the weather, and then there’s some further info down below for everyone. Although Woodfordia is located in sunny south-east Queensland, we are in winter, so please bring the appropriate clothing and bedding. Current forecasts are for overnight temps in the 9-14 degrees Celsius range, but recent night-time temps have dropped as low as 2 degrees. The daytime temperature may reach 20 degrees but as soon as you walk into the shade or if it clouds over the temperature can drop significantly. We cannot stress strongly enough to be prepared for cold nights and cool days. You can keep an eye on the district weather forecast here www.splendourinthegrass.com/weather-report.html There are communal campfires scattered throughout the campgrounds and event site (where you’ll also find lots of mushroom heaters), so make the most of them if it gets chilly. Also, while we have a number of light towers throughout the campgrounds it is not possible to light every street, avenue and campsite. We suggest very strongly that you bring a good quality torch and spare batteries. Even better, get a little wind-up or solar-powered torch, then you won’t need to worry about the toxic effect on the environment from discarded batteries. Security will be advised to allow small torches into the event area, but please do not try to take your 15 inch Stainless Steel Maglite in, it will be confiscated as a potentially dangerous item. When you set up camp, memorise or make note of your camping area letter (A or B or C and so on), your street name, the nearest cross-street, your camping marshals’ names and any nearby structures or features, because once it’s dark it’s going to be difficult to find your tent without knowing those details. Campers can arrive from noon Wednesday. Please don’t arrive earlier than that. After that time you can arrive when you wish. We will have basic crew on late at night, although we’d rather people didn’t arrive in the dead of night…and so would your prospective neighbours. Besides, it’s not easy setting up camp in the dark. Campers arriving on Wednesday need to be aware that there will be no food outlets available at Woodfordia until Thursday at 4pm. Either bring supplies to get you through until then or the General Store onsite, near the main festival entry, will be open from noon Wednesday with basic supplies. Alternatively, there is a Woolworths and an IGA as well as a few other shops such as a bakery, pharmacy, hardware, bargain store etc in Woodford, about a 10 minute drive away. There are also a handful of food outlets in Woodford for take-away and sit down meals, but please realize that this is a small town and these outlets are generally small and may not be open late. Neither will you find production-line fast food here. If you do need to go into town, there will be a Woodford shuttle bus operating from Wednesday for $4 per person per trip. This will be a better option than using your own vehicle to come and go from the campground. Alcohol is not allowed in the campgrounds so please do not try to bring it in. Police and security will be searching cars and it really creates a bad vibe when they have to confiscate the products. So just save everyone the hassle and leave it at home. And in big bold, easy to read points, here are the things to consider CAMPING RULES
![]() Splendour in the Grass 2010 Let the party begin! Splendour in the Grass, one of Australia’s most celebrated music festivals is set to commemorate its 10-year anniversary with its most exciting event yet. It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since the little event called Splendour in the Grass made its debut in Byron Bay. The mid winter event which consistently featured quality music acts alongside quirky arts and counter-culture was quickly embraced by music lovers. In the ensuing years Splendour in the Grass has featured a spectacular collection of awesome artists from around the globe and has reached icon status, with tickets selling out within minutes of going on sale. Fast-forward to 2010 and the beautiful site of Woodfordia in the QLD Sunshine Coast hinterland will play host to Splendour in the Grass in this very special anniversary year. And this year, the birthday party will take place over three magnificent days from Friday July 30th to Sunday August 1st 2010. This year, for the first time, Splendour in the Grass is proud to serve up our much-anticipated line-up on one big, fat platter. That’s more than 80 acts that will perform across our three main stages – the Amphitheatre, Mix Up tent and G.W McLennan stage. But first, we need to provide detail on the all-important event ticket and camping information, which has changed for the 2010 event. The capacity at Woodfordia is 30,000, with enough room on site for 20,000 campers. As a result, there will be a combined event and camping ticket available for the first time. The event/camping ticket will provide access to the campgrounds from Wednesday 28th July with the actual event site opening 4pm Thursday 29th July until 12 midday on Monday 2nd August. Please note the Amphitheatre, Mix Up and McLennan stages will be operating on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. The Woodfordia campground will be the most convenient and affordable place to stay during the event. All you need is on-site in our splendid mini-city, right on your grassy doorstep. Come join the organisers, crew, staff and many of the artists who will also be camping out under the stars. Those who are not camping with us can purchase an event-only ticket that will provide entry to the festival from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August. However, we would strongly recommend that you do your research before choosing this option. Unless you’re lucky enough to live nearby or can stay with somebody who does, then you will need to be prepared to travel quite a distance each day from other centres of accommodation. Splendour in the Grass will again give audience members the opportunity to offset their travel emissions to and from Splendour in the Grass. They have had an overwhelming response to this unique environmental initiative in the past and we’re sure that our carbon crusading audience members will continue to fight the good fight. Tickets will be sold through Moshtix via moshtix.com.au or by phone on 1300 GET TIX (438 849). Mastercard and Visa accepted. Splendour in the Grass's most ambitious line-up to date is sure to delight punters with its combination of first time appearances, festival favourites and exclusive one-off performances.
