The Jezabels – Dark Storm Tour
This month The Jezabels delivered their new EP, Dark Storm, which hit #1 on the iTunes album charts this week. The third and final release in a trilogy of EPs that began with 2009’s The Man Is Dead, its five songs represent the band’s most confident outing to date – moody, mysterious and epic, yet buzzing with the quartet’s ever-present knack for an irresistible pop hook.
Their recent AIR Award nominations for Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Single / EP for their previous EP She’s So Hard, an October tour of America (featuring showcase performances in NYC for CMJ) and Canada will be followed by a headlining trek across Australia, culminating with appearances in festivals such as Peats Ridge and the Falls Festival, are a long way from The Jezabels’ humble beginnings in a Sydney University band competition in 2007.
Polaris Prize (Canada’s version of the AMP) finalists, internationally acclaimed, and hailed in their homeland as one of the most successful independent acts in recent years, Canadian four piece Two Hours Traffic will join them for this run of shows. This will be their second voyage to our shores, bringing with them a set list from their new LP Territory, produced by long-term producer and good mate Joel Plaskett. www.twohourstraffic.com www.myspace.com/twohourstraffic
‘The music has an almost elemental power to it at points – the tumbling seas of the title track giving way to the oddly threatening ebb tide of Mace Spray. And we haven’t even got to Hayley’s increasingly, individual half-swallowed, half beseeching voice. They are now producing music of a richness and intelligence.” Drum Media
