Valley Fiesta 2009

The Valley Entertainment Precinct will once again host a FREE weekend of top quality entertainment of music, theatre and performing arts from October 23-25. With this year’s theme based on the Mexican Day of the Dead Festival, the Valley will come to life with an inspiring program for people of all ages to enjoy.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said he was excited by the diversity of this year’s acts, with rock, soul, hip hop, indie, alt-country, soul fusion and blues represented. “Valley Fiesta 2009 shows the strength of our local artists, as well as welcoming performances from national household names and international musicians from our Asian, UK and US neighbours,” Cr Newman said. “We wanted to return this festival to something that everyone in the community can come along and enjoy, and such a diverse range of quality acts will certainly help us achieve that.”

The Valley Fiesta 2009 street party will take place over three days from October 23-25, on three stages in the Brunswick St Mall, Brunswick Street Closure and Chinatown Mall. On the Brunswick St Mall Stage will beat the rock Heart of the festival, with programming showcasing some of the best international, national and local pop, rock, indie, hip hop and breaks acts.

Meanwhile, the Brunswick St Closure Stage will feed your Soul with a repertoire of alt-country, soul fusion, blues and blues-rock in a more laid back atmosphere that includes café seating and dining available from local restaurants. Valley Fiesta 2009 will also include a series of events in the newly redeveloped Chinatown Mall, with the Theatre Stage hosting a contemporary theatre program including short theatre productions, impro, physical theatre and comedy. More announcements regarding the Theatre Stage are to come!
