[title of show]

Brisbane’s award-winning Oscar Theatre Company is bringing the Queensland premiere of Broadway’s hilarious hit musical, [title of show] to the Brisbane Powerhouse this October.

Oscar’s artistic director, Emily Gilhome, says “It’s a new piece, so we are so frequently asked –
what is [title of show? But I think it’s probably easier to answer – what ISN’T [title of show]? It isn’t lame musical theatre, it doesn’t play by the rules and it certainly won’t be on the ’must see’ list at my Grandmother’s house. It’s a little bit naughty and a whole lot hilarious.”

Based on true events, the show chronicles the journey of two nobodies in New York, Hunter and
Jeff, as they set themselves the unenviable task of creating an original musical, bound for Broadway. Enlisting the help of their lady friends Susan and Heidi, this unlikely foursome sets out to create a kick ass show that will get lots of peeps (well, lots of peeps with loads of money) to like them. Nay, love them.

But how? Jeff refuses to nude up to sell tickets, Hunter procrastinates, Heidi is a professional
understudy and Susan would prefer to invent the ultimate Drag Queen name. Like Dora Jar. Or Tulita Pepsi. Wilma Fingadu? Gilhome says, “[title of show] is, on the face of it, a story about two guys writing a musical, about two guys writing a musical, with killer one-liners and questionable choreography. But at the heart of it, [title of show] is a very true (actually true!) story about enduring friendships, daring to dream out loud, and a timely reminder for us ‘big kids’ to smile. The [title of show] gang are real people who sound just like someone you know. These [tos]sers will make you laugh and say ‘oh my god I totally do that’, as well as teach you some of the best drag names ever devised. Here’s your chance to be a big [tos]ser too.”

Oscar Theatre Company is committed to producing contemporary works and providing further
showcase opportunities for Queensland artists. Originally inspired by New York’s Off-Broadway musical theatre scene, Oscar's most recent production was the Matilda Award winning state premiere of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE at the Roundhouse Theatre.
