Avatar in 3D at The Dendy Portside
The Dendy Portside celebrates the opening of its new 3D cinema with a special opening night party featuring James Cameron’s amazing new film, Avatar. This special screening will take place on Wednesday, December 16 and is open to the public. For more information on this special screening log on to http://www.dendy.com.au/index.asp
Avatar marks the beginning of an exciting range of 3D films soon to arrive at Dendy Portside. The Avatar 3D experience at Dendy Portside will offer a groundbreaking mix of live-action, dramatic performances and computer-generated effects. The film is being touted as a breakthrough in terms of filmmaking technology, for its development of 3D viewing and stereoscopic filmmaking with cameras that were specially designed for the film's production, and has already been slated for two awards.
Dendy Portside will become one of the first local cinemas to use the XpanD 3D model, Europe’s most popular 3D system. The XpanD uses high quality reusable glasses, rather than disposable plastic glasses. XpanD glasses use LCD lenses which alternate on and off 144 times a second, helping to create a sharp image with impressive sense of depth. The glasses are also specifically designed to allow the easy wearing of spectacles whilst watching a 3D film.
“Audiences are definitely attracted to the immersive experience 3D films offer”, says Eddy Garcia Grant, General Manager of Dendy Portside. “We’ve had lots of requests for 3D and are delighted to now offer Brisbane residents the 3D experience at our cinema”.
Releases slated the first half of 2010 include Pixar’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2 and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. www.dendy.com.au or www.avatarmovie.com

Cornish, for at least trying something a little different.
