Resident Evil: Afterlife

After only minutes into this, the latest film version of the video game of the same name, you enter this almost Zen like state of mind. You have to suspend so much brain function to get past the almost completely unbelievable action, your body is in a state of almost suspended animation. You begin to feel like you are only being power by the sugar and salt from your lapful of treats. It’s escapist entertainment of the highest (or lowest) calibre.

The story as it goes is minimal and those that have caught any of the other stops on this franchises’ way to cinematic infamy will echo the sentiment of “Plot, we don’t need no stinking plot!” It also remains a family institution as the director-wife combo of Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich return for another edition.

In difference to a lot of the 3D content now clogging up our local cinemas and rapidly empting our pockets, RE:A appears to have been constructed with the 3D effects in mind and not had the process added on in post production. These types of 3D films always provide that little bit extra of visual pizazz.

If it’s action that you crave along with high doses of sugar, buy the biggest bag of lollies you can find, get along to the local big screen and Zen out. Just keep in mind you do need minimal brain activity to keep your body functioning.
