The Sirens Of Venice
Beguiling and melodically luxurious, this collective known as The Sirens Of Venice combine the talents of husband and wife team, Craig and Camilla Jackson with a number of their musical friends to great effect. The ten tracks here float by on waves of swaying rhythms that underline gorgeous vocals.
Taking a break from fronting the band Gersey, Jackson has enlisted the help of Vincent Giarrusso from the Underground Lovers to help him realize a vision of music that comes across as more of a dream than reality. It’s not pointless noodling though and there are moments where the whiplash of electric guitar puts a slight sting in the tail. While at other moments the rich vocals are backed by such impressively restrained instrumentation that the song is driven forward dramatically by just simple acoustic piano notes.
The album has a flow from start to finish that only adds to its trance like nature. And then at album’s end, it just becomes easier to push play again than it is to try to search the collection to find another album that wont break the mood.
