Already Tried
Bad Pennies
Who or what are the Bad Pennies? Well in this case they’re not the English folk act or the phrase penned by Sir Walter Scott in the early nineteenth-century, this time the name refers to a Melbourne based four-piece. The band recently hooked up with powerhouse producer Mike Opitz (Kiss, AC/DC, INXS) and released their first single, Already Tried. I got in touch with band member Luke Brizzi to get some comments on the tracks that make up their first single. Here is what I got.
Already Tried
“I wrote Already Tried quickly and that may be obvious as some people have focused on its simplicity, rather than its meaning. The song itself is about knowing when enough is enough and that, although things don’t always go the way we want them sometimes they are beyond our control. Don’t let it get to you, just get over it. It isn’t written from a particular experience but I think at one time in our lives we have, or will, come across an ‘Already Tried’ circumstance.”
Feel
“What can I say about Feel? I wrote it a few years back so I don’t really recall its inspirations or real meanings. I must have been in a strange mood that day because lyrically it confuses the hell out of me. When we play Feel live it goes off and we love playing it. Actually I think a Hole song inspired it. Weird because I hate Hole!”
Thanks Luke.
